You no doubt heard the reports earlier this week about 3D Realms shutting down, but late yesterday the studio made it official with a goodbye post on its website. It consisted only of a photo of the team and a brief message: " Thanks for being fans and for all your support."

And that's that. It's the end of 3D Realms and the end of an era. Longtime gamers are no doubt far familiar with the studio's great history, starting as Apogee in 1987, a developer of such titles as Duke Nukem and Rise of the Triad and then the publisher of games like Commander Keen and Wolfenstein 3D for id Software and other developers. We'll have to wait and see. As of right now, though, 3D Realms is gone -- and so is Duke Nukem Forever.

The WMZQ Fest Concert is all about country music. I love country music and I love Sugarland! Well, the thing about music concerts is that many people think that they can just buy tickets and show up right before the concert starts…wrong! Sure, you are able to buy WMZQ Fest tickets online, but if you would like to save money and get a true experience on what it’s like to be a music concert junkie, camping outside the ticket booth to get your hand on great seats for a concert such as the WMZQ Fest is a great event to plan with your friends. So, remember to arrive early, bring warm clothes and enough food, and you’ll be set to camp out for the day.Well, that’s about it for concert preparedness. If you are wondering who is playing at the WMZQ Fest, Sugarland will be there along with the likes of Phil Vassar, Tracy Byrd, Laura Bryna, and Jypsi!!! What a country music line-up! Chuck Daly, who coached the original Dream Team to the Olympic gold medal in 1992 after winning back-to-back NBA championships with the Detroit Pistons, has died. He was 78.He was renowned for his ability to create harmony out of diverse personalities at all levels of the game, whether they were Ivy Leaguers at Pennsylvania, Dream Teamers Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley, or Pistons as dissimilar as Dennis Rodman and Joe Dumars.

Doug Collins, a former Detroit Pistons and Chicago Bulls coach, learned the intricacies of the game from Daly.Daly humbled the NBA superstars by coaching a group of college players to victory in a controlled scrimmage weeks before the Olympics.Daly had a career regular-season record of 638-437 in 13 NBA seasons. In 12 playoff appearances, his teams went 75-51. He left Detroit as the Pistons’ leader in regular-season and playoff victories.

The National Basketball Coaches’ Association is dedicating this postseason to Daly. Coaches and many broadcasters are wearing a pin with the initials “CD” during games and created the “Chuck Daly Lifetime Achievement Award,” which will be given annually.Despite his success, Daly wasn’t part of a Coach of the Year presentation until he handed the trophy to then-Detroit coach Rick Carlisle in 2002.
