Hurricane Bill update

Hurricane Bill update
Hurricane Bill, upgraded to a Category 4 storm, tore across the Atlantic Wednesday with raging winds nearing 135 mph, threatening a possible strike near Bermuda in a few days, meteorologists reported. Forecasters predicted the hurricane could get even stronger. "The wind sheer is light and the waters are warm," said Todd Kimberlain, a forecaster at the National Hurricane Center.
"Those are two essential ingredients not just for the formation, but also the maintenance, of hurricanes." Early Wednesday, Bill was centered about 460 miles east of the Leeward Islands and was expected to pass them later in the day or by early Thursday. The most significant threat could be to Bermuda, which the storm could hit in three or four days, Kimberlain said. It also could move directly between Bermuda and the eastern coast of the U.S. without making landfall.
The latest Hurricane Bill update is not that good news to people at Leeward Island because Bill is expected to touch the northeastern part of the island late Wednsday or early Thursday. The National Hurricane Center has adviced the people at Leeward Islands to monitor Bill's progress. Bill is now considered a dangerous category 4 storm; its top sustained wind has the speed of 135 mph. Bill is expected to hit Bermuda in three or four days. Last Tuesday Bill was 460 miles of Leeward Island and was moving west-northwest at about 16 miles per hour.

Mark McGrath

Mark McGrath
Mark McGrath, the Sugar Ray frontman, cooled off after his Tropicana gig Aug. 8 by hitting the blackjack tables. James Gandolfini is a fan of the mixed martial arts. Who knew ... other than anyone who's caught an episode of "The Sopranos"? Gandolfini cheered the New Breed Fighters at a mixed martial arts event at Resorts Casino on Saturday, while Danny Bonaduce celebrated his 50th birthday at Bally's on Friday night.
The former Danny Partridge also grabbed a guitar and jammed with the band Fosterchild. Reuben Kinkaid would be so proud. The record starts out with an ode to women and everything about them that men admire every day. “Girls Were Made To Love” is a cutesy, reggae-based love song (We think it still classifies as a love song, even if it is dedicated to all women everywhere).
It’s been six years since we heard any of the laid-back rock Sugar Ray became famous for, and it seems that in the prolonged break nothing much has changed. They’re still producing feel-good tunes that belong at the poolside during your summer holiday. The unfortunate thing is that their new album, “Music For Cougars,” while being vaguely cute in its theme, gives listeners little in the way of substantial music to get their teeth into.

Lisa Mayfield mugshot

Lisa Mayfield mugshot

A mugshot of Lisa Mayfield, the stepmother of NASCAR’s Jeremy Mayfield, was released after her August 15, 2009 arrest. Police arrested Mayfield at the home of her stepson and his wife Shana Mayfield. She was charged with public intoxication and trespassing. The police chief said she was “pretty high.” In July of 2009, Lisa testified in court against her stepson, claiming she saw him use methamphetamines.

How could someone who looks so normal and put together do something so crazy? Unfortunately, it is true: Lisa Mayfield was arrested Saturday night and charged with four counts of second degree trespassing and simple assault relating to an incident outside NASCAR’s favorite meth head’s home. According to an ESPN report: The arrest was made at the home of Jeremy and Shana Mayfield. According to Shana Mayfield, she and her husband were on their way to Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., for a dirt track race when they received a call from a couple that lives on their property.

Shana said the couple heard banging on the door and went to the house to investigate. She said by the time she and Jeremy arrived back at the house, Lisa Mayfield was in handcuffs. At that point, Shana Mayfield claimed that Lisa Mayfield threatened to come back and “kill me.” Sweet jumpin’ Jesus on a pogo stick, how much more white trash can this sordid tale get? First, Jeremy Mayfield tests positive for meth (multiple times) but denies he uses the drug, next Lisa Mayfield signs an affidavit that purports that she witnessed her stepson using meth over 30 times, Mayfield calls stepmomma a whore, accuses her of killing his father and states he intends to file a wrongful death suit against her, now this?
