Darin Brooks Days of Our Lives

Darin Brooks Wins Younger Actors Award in the movie of Darin Brooks Days of Our Lives . Here Darin Brooks Wins Younger Actors Award which brings a great future for Darin Brooks. Congrats to Darin Brooks for his win as Outstanding Younger Actor and his funny speech! How cute was he with his win and the reaction he had after realizing he made a boo boo?

Brooks became the first Days of Our Lives actor to win Outstanding Younger Actor since Billy Warlock won in 1988. He won out over fellow Days of Our Lives star Blake Berris, All My Children’s Cornelius Smith Jr., Guiding Light’s EJ Bonilla and 2007 Daytime Emmy Younger Actor winner Bryton James (McClure). The irony is that One Life to Live’s Kristen Alderson and Brandon Buddy–both snubbed of nominations this year–presented the award.

Darin Brooks was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii, to parents Don and Susan Brooks. He went to school at Kaiser High School, and graduated in 2002. Brooks enjoys surfing, skateboarding, playing baseball, football, and soccer. He also enjoys playing guitar, bass guitar, and drums. He used to play in a rock band in high school. Brooks is of Irish, Polish, Belgian and Norwegian decent.

Marvel Entertainment

Marvel Entertainment
Marvel Entertainment in a stock and cash transaction, the companies announced this morning. Leah Lust

Leah Lust
Tiffany Shepherd who allegedly now is also Leah Lust claims a report. Is Leah really Tiffany Shepherd? Fired teacher Tiffany Shepherd allegedly now works as Leah says a Florida report. Tiffany Shepherd was that teacher you may remember from May 2008 that was fired for being a hostess on fishing trips. Shepherd had taught biology at Florida’s Port St. Lucie High School.
Shepherd was covered in press May 2008 as the “bikini hostess” teacher, strangely fired from a teaching job simply because her second job involved serving sandwiches and drinks to patrons on fishing boats. She had taken the innocent job then as a divorcee to support her three son:s I can make $600… in two days’ fishing. That’s a week’s pay for me. You don’t wear jeans or slacks to go fishing…. I wasn’t doing anything wrong.
School officials said Shepherd was let go now because of her second job but because she was missing time at her first job with them! “She just doesn’t come to work. We did not know about her second job until after she received her notice of non-renewal.” Now Shepherd is 31 and turning back to “teaching” as Leah, claims a Florida report. The Sun Sentinel claims: “Since her sacking made national news 15 months ago, Shepherd says she hasn’t been able to find a mainstream job. Even at minimum wage. Even after sending out 2,500 resumes, some as far as Idaho, some to prisons. She’s lost custody of two of her three kids to her ex-husband. And she’s been evicted from two apartments.”

Ataris Pallidipennis Stal

Ataris Pallidipennis Stal
United States Customs agents at Miami International Airport were surprised to find an Ataris Pallidipennis Stal in a shipment of flowers coming in from South Africa. The insects pose a great risk to the delicately balanced ecosystems of the United States and their release could have a domino effect of consequences.
Waldmar Klassen, an expert in entomology at the University of Florida Tropical Research and Education Center in Homestead says that it is a possibility that the bug, that usually eats grass, will wind up eating the saw grass in the everglades but that “It would be premature to say anything about this in terms of a threat”. How Florida decides to deal with this threat will have great consequences in terms of public relations. Obviously they need to think about the safety of their ecosystem, but making too much of a scene over the discovery of a bug (that is potentially harmless) could just make them look crazy.
Ataris Pallidipennis Stal,Hemiptera:Americans remain deeply concerned over troubling issues our country faces. As evidenced by the Google Hot Trends for this morning, here are the top ten issues searched for on Google. Coming in at number 62 and number 100 of the top 100 were inquiries related to the California Station Fire, the only search words pertaining to any real serious issues going on in our country.

Anand Jon Alexander

Anand Jon Alexander
Indian fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander is slated to be sentenced in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday for sexually assaulting aspiring models. Prosecutors are pushing for the 35-year-old to face the maximum possible sentence; three terms of 53 years and six months to life.
Alexander was convicted last November of 14 counts including forcible rape with victims ranging in age from 14 to 21. According to court documents the fashion designer often found women online, enticed them with promises of a high fashion career along with photo shoots and other modeling work. However his promises of entrance into the glamorous world of high fashion were empty ones and he'd end up fondling or raping them at his Beverly Hills apartment.

Police began investigating the designer in 2007 after a woman reported she had been sexually molested by Alexander at his apartment. At one point Alexander was highly regarded in the fashion industry and was featured on "America's Next Top Model." His professional successes garnered him big name celebrity clients such as hotel heiress Paris Hilton and singer Mary J. Blige.

Big Brother 11 pandora's box

Big Brother 11 pandora's box
Afternoon in the Big Brother House and leisurely talk amoung house guests. A 2:42pm BBT, the live feeds came back! The Mystery of the HOH Door is now solved! It was a luxury comp, that could have some consequences.

Jordan: (to Jeff) "How much do you think you grabbed?"
Jeff: "$1,000?"
Jordan: "Noo.."
Kevin: "I thought the money looked fake at first!"
Jordan: "I grabbed like 5 or 6 $100's. The pool filter had, like.."
Kevin: "That was so much fun!! They said once you make the choice to go in that door...someone grabbed my arm and I screamed like a little bitch! Then they handcuffed me."
It was the mystery door! Kevin said he heard something behind the door. Kevin: "There's a whole room behind that door!!" Kevin said that BB gave him a "choice". Natalie: "That was $10 G's in the backyard??? Didn't look like it.." They think something is still up & that Natalie knows something.

Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners

Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners
The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners were a little surprising last night. The Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners had some usual suspects, but the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners had some relatively new names and shows in the mix. At least two of the major Emmy Awards
choices, as the Daytime Emmy Awards put on a big show - even if it ended a little too late for the CW's liking.
The biggest Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winner of the night was The Bold and the Beautiful, which won its first Best Drama Series Emmy, and the first for a CBS program in 22 years. However, the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 were held on the CW, so by the time The Bold and the Beautiful cast and crew got their awards, it was 10 pm EST and the CW stopped their broadcast. The CW didn't have the same patience for late awards show as other networks do - but it blacked out the acceptance speeches of the major Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners, nonetheless. The Daytime Emmy Awards are already likely to get lousy ratings for being on the CW, no matter when it ended.
But the actual Daytime Emmy Awards 2009 winners hardly cared about ratings. In addition to The Bold and the Beautiful's upset, a major upset took place in the Best Talk Show Host category. Ellen DeGeneres had held that honor for the last four years, but she was dethroned by the ladies of The View - who weren't even in attendance. In addition, Guiding Light had one last Daytime Emmy Award winner, as Jeff Branson tied for the Best Supporting Actor award with Vincent Irizarry of All My Children. Guiding Light was also part of a major tribute from the Daytime Emmy Awards 2009, as its final episode approaches on September 18.

Hurricane Jimena

Hurricane Jimena
Hurricane Jimena, off mainland Mexico, has intensified overnight and is classified as a Category 4 storm, with sustained winds of about 135 mph. At 8 a.m. Sunday its center was located 515 miles south-southeast of Cabo and was tracking to the northwest (see graphic below) at about 9 mph. The National Hurricane Center predicts it will skirt the Baja California peninsula before making landfall Tuesday night in the Magdalena Bay area. It will deliver plenty of much-needed rain, but might also cause extensive flooding.
The region desperately needs rain. Cattle are perishing and some residents in Los Cabos and throughout Baja California Sur are being given running water only once or twice a week. (Running water is not an issue for hotel guests.) The storm might also lead to temporary port closures. Eric Bricston, who runs Gordo Banks Pangas out of San Jose del Cabo, said via e-mail: "This storm does look dangerous and most likely on Monday morning we will have to haul all of the pangas [skiffs] out of the marina docking area up to the houses. A lot of heavy work, but it is better to be safe than sorry."
Jimena was located about 305 miles south of Cabo Corrientes, Mexico, and about 550 miles south-southeast of the southern tip of Baja, California. The storm’s winds increased to near 115 mph (185 kph) with higher gusts. It was moving northwest at 12 mph. Forecasters expected the center of the storm to move parallel to the west coast of Mexico. Hurricanes of Category 3 or higher on the five-step Saffir-Simpson intensity scale are considered “major” and are the most destructive type.

Japan election

Japan election
Japan's ruling party conceded a crushing defeat Sunday after 54 years of nearly unbroken rule as voters were poised to hand the opposition a landslide victory in nationwide elections, driven by economic anxiety and a powerful desire for change. The left-of-center Democratic Party of Japan was set to win 300 or more of the 480 seats in the lower house of parliament, ousting the Liberal Democrats, who have governed Japan for all but 11 months since 1955, according to exit polls by all major Japanese TV networks.
"These results are very severe," Prime Minister Taro Aso said in a news conference at party headquarters, conceding his party was headed for a big loss. "There has been a deep dissatisfaction with our party." Aso said he would have to accept responsibility for the results, suggesting that he would resign as party president. Other LDP leaders also said they would step down, though official results were not to be released until early Monday morning.
The loss by the Liberal Democrats – traditionally a pro-business, conservative party – would open the way for the Democratic Party, headed by Yukio Hatoyama, to replace Aso and establish a new Cabinet, possibly within the next few weeks. The vote was seen as a barometer of frustrations over Japan's worst economic slump since World War II and a loss of confidence in the ruling Liberal Democrats' ability to tackle tough problems such as the rising national debt and rapidly aging population. The Democrats have embraced a more populist platform, promising handouts for families with children and farmers, a higher minimum wage, and to rebuild the economy.

Decided

Decided
Federal prosecutors have decided against dismissing charges against two former Alaska lawmakers who say their corruption convictions in a bribery case resulted from prosecutorial misconduct. In court documents filed Friday in Anchorage, prosecutors and defense attorneys said they couldn't agree on how the cases against former Reps. Pete Kott and Vic Kohring should proceed.
The disagreement leaves U.S. District Judge John Sedwick to decide later this year or in 2010 whether Kott and Kohring should get new trials on charges of taking bribes from an oil-field contractor. Their convictions were challenged because the same team of prosecutors handled a related case against former U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, whose conviction for failing to disclose gifts from the contractor was thrown out because evidence was withheld. Attorneys for Kott and Kohring had sought dismissal of all charges based on the failure of prosecutors to turn over favorable evidence.
The U.S. Justice Department asked Sedwick to release Kott and Kohring from prison pending a determination of whether the government's failure to fully disclose information about oil executive Bill Allen and others had tainted the trials. Allen, the founder and former chairman of the now-defunct VECO Corp., was the government's star witness against Stevens, Kott and Kohring in their bribery trials. The charges against Stevens were dismissed but Kott and Kohring have appealed their convictions to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.

Chicago Triathlon

Chicago Triathlon
Chicago Triathlon and Hunter Kemper hope to help cities Olympic bid Over 9000 athletes are taking on the 27th annual Chicago Triathlon, once again making it the largest triathlon in the world at least as ranked by the Guinness Book of World Records. The race features a 1.5-kilometer swim along the shoreline in Monroe Harbor, a 40-kilometer bike ride on Lake Shore Drive and a 10-kilometer run along lake Michigan.
When asked what advice he has for athletes racing on today, Hunter Kemper (seen here as he promotes Chicago's Olympic bid at triathlon), and a favorite to win the race said, "Take it all in. This race is unique, unlike any other, the swim is unique, the bike on Lake Shore Drive is beautiful, there aren't many races like this in the country, so make sure to take a moment and enjoy the experience."
I have come home, so to speak, to race in this year's triathlon. In over 10 years of professional Adventure Racing, at least 40 triathlons and untold numerous other endurance events, I have never raced my hometown triathlon. I still get strange looks and cautious comments from the home team..."You're doing what?" ..."How far?" ... "What do you do in a triathlon?" etc. Interesting to note though that my 101-year-old grandmother, who has never lived anywhere else but Chicago, seems to be able to keep track of it all and knows the course.

Jaycee Dugard Pictures

Jaycee Dugard Pictures
Jaycee Lee Dugard-Miracles still happen on the earth. It happened with Jaycee Lee Dugard.Jaycee Lee Dugard was found after being kidnapped for 18 years. Today, she has been reunited with her mother and is staying in a motel in Antioch, California. Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped in South Lake Tahoe. Her stepfather was said to have been a witness to the abduction. A fact that made him a former suspect for the crime.
Although no one has seen current pictures of Jaycee Lee Dugard, the nation waits anxiously. Her photo had been age progressed using technology currently available. In addition to viewing pictures and photos of Jaycee Lee Dugard, her current photo, compared to the age progression picture could prove enlightening for other missing children cases. The picture of Jaycee Dugard as a child was used by many missing children organizations. Her face, though we haven’t seen how she has aged, has already been familiar to many.
Jaycee Dugard has two children, ages 11 and 15 that were born to her captor, registered sex offender, Phillip Garrido. Phillip Garrido and his wife, Nancy Garrido are expected to be formally charged in the case tomorrow. Jaycee went by the name ‘Alissa’ while she was being held captive and was forced to live in a shed that was secluded in the back of the Garrido home. One of the prevailing questions as this case unfolds is how was a registered sex offender able to live under the radar for 18 years with a child he kidnapped, and then father two children with her.

Victoria Kennedy

Victoria Kennedy
Victoria Kennedy, greeted family, friends and dignitaries as they arrived for the funeral mass, CNN said. A brief prayer service was held earlier in the morning in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library before an honor guard loaded Kennedy's casket into the hearse for the short trip to the basilica, The Boston Globe reported. Kennedy, 77, died Tuesday of brain cancer.
"Today we say goodbye to the youngest child of Rose and Joseph Kennedy," President Barack Obama said in a eulogy. "The world will long remember their son Edward as the heir to a weighty legacy; a champion for those who had none; the soul of the Democratic Party; and the lion of the U.S. Senate -- a man whose name graces nearly one thousand laws, and who penned more than three hundred himself. " Former U.S. Presidents Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush and the prime ministers of Ireland and Britain were among the 1,400 guest who filled the basilica.
Friday night, 650 friends, family and colleagues gathered at the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library for three hours of story-telling and remembrance, The Boston Globe said. Sen. John F. Kerry, D-Mass., spoke of Kennedy's love of sailing and how the day after Kennedy's death was a perfect day for sailing off Massachusetts. Kennedy is now sailing with the members of his family who died before him, Kerry said, choking up. "Sail on, my friend, sail on," Kerry said. Kennedy will be buried Saturday evening in Arlington National Cemetery near the graves of his brothers, Sen. Robert Kennedy and President John F. Kennedy.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Boston

Our Lady of Perpetual Help Boston
The telephone rang early Wednesday morning in the hushed rectory of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Basilica, the old Catholic church on Mission Hill. Phones are always ringing in old churches in working-class neighborhoods, but this caller, a priest, had a singular request. He said that the Kennedy family — that would be the Kennedys of Hyannis Port, Washington, the world — wondered whether the funeral Mass for Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who had died just hours earlier, could be said at Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Would that be all right?
The Rev. Philip Dabney, the associate pastor, was stunned. All he had done was answer the phone, and now his life had changed. “I said, ‘Sure,’ ” he recalled. “I was so taken aback. But you knowhow grace works.” Soon Father Dabney was working out the details with the senator’s aides. No air-conditioning? We’ll send over several industrial fans. Unsure about the sound system? ABC, the television network, will be on it. When the priest noted that the sidewalk in front of the church was in the midst of being repaired, one of the aides said, “It’ll be fixed.”
The priests here are Redemptorists — missionaries who built this commanding Romanesque church in 1878. Known locally as the Mission Church, it holds a special place among Boston Catholics because of its shrine to Our Lady of Perpetual Help, which is bordered by two vases filled with canes and crutches. According to the church’s official history, these strange but beautiful bouquets “provide testimony to the multitude of cures and graces granted through the intercession of Our Lady.”

Michael Jackson

Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson tributes and book-a-zines have generated $55 million in additional newsstand sales for magazine publishers, providing one bright spot, however somber, amid widespread newsstand declines so far this year. "Based on our estimates, we're at about almost $67 million in Michael Jackson product," said Gil Brechtel, president-CEO of the Magazine Information Network, often called MagNet, which tracks data from wholesalers and retailers. "Some of that, of course, is People magazine and all that. But these are mostly specials, like the People tribute, an $11.99 product. The industry was able to produce probably $55 million in additional revenue from Michael Jackson magazines and book-a-zines."
For some context, MagNet projects that magazine retail sales in the U.S. in the first half of 2009 will reach between $1.8 billion and $1.975 billion. Michael Jackson's death last June unleashed a flood of memorial media coverage across media. In print, everyone from Time to Us Weekly to Jet converted regular issues into Michael Jackson specials, rushed special issues to newsstands and published book-a-zine tributes. Time magazine, for example, published a 64-page special extra issue on June 29, which retailed for $5.99, with a special Pepsi ad on the back that read, "You will always be the king of pop."
MagNet's analysis of Michael Jackson's impact includes July, which won't help the approaching circulation report covering January through June that's due Monday from the Audit Bureau of Circulations. Early looks at many publishers' results have suggested that subscriptions held up fine over the first half but that newsstand sales suffered some sharp blows from the recession and a dispute with wholesalers.New numbers from Hearst Magazines and Conde Nast are further reinforcing that picture.

Fantasy Football Cheat Sheets

Fantasy Football Cheat Sheets
2009 Fantasy Football: cheat sheets for your league It's that time of the year again. Time for Fantasy Football. But what is Fantasy Football and what are (printable) Fantasy Football cheat sheets that everyone is going gaga about on the web as of this writing? For this, we have Wikipedia to the rescue with this short overview: "Fantasy football is a fantasy sports game in which participants (called "owners") are arranged into a league. The person who creates the league is called the commissioner, and that person invites other owners into his/her league.
Each team drafts or acquires via auction a team of real-life American football players and then scores points based on thoseplayers' statistical on-the-field performances. A typical fantasy league will employ players from a single football league, such as the NFL or an NCAA division. Leagues can be arranged in which the winner is the team with the most total points at the end of the season, or in a head-to-head format (which mirrors the actual NFL) in which each team plays against a single opponent each week.
In creating the fantasy football teams, "owners" usually look for cheat sheets. What are fantasy football cheat sheets? Here are two examples of fantasy football cheats sheets found on the web for you: example 1 and example 2. If you like this post, then please consider subscribing to my RSS feed. Jaycee Lee Dugard today

Jaycee Lee Dugard today
Jaycee Lee Dugard was held in the above complex of tents and sheds for 18 years. Dugard was kidnapped when she was just 11 years old and held at this house in Antioch, CA, until just a few days ago. Jaycee Lee Dugard was kidnapped by Phillip Garrido and his wife and then raped over a period of time. She had two daughters by Garrido who were found with her when she was freed. The news about Dugard today is a little odd.
For questions are being asked about how confined Jaycee Lee actually was. There are reports that she did the graphic design work for the printing company that Garrido ran and that she not only met customers but had access to email and possibly other communications methods over the years.
However bizzare this might sound, a kidnap victim having access to the outside world but not using it to tell people of her plight, it is not in fact all that unusual among such victims. It even has a name, Stockholm Syndrome, where a kidnap victim starts to feel a sense of loyalty to those who have kidnapped them. There are various possible explanations of why this happens but that it sometimes does there is no doubt about. Patty Hearst quite famously became loyal to the Symbionese Liberation Army after being kidnapped by them, just as one example.

Shawn Hornbeck

Shawn Hornbeck
Shawn Hornbeck was returned to his family, four and a half years after being kidnapped. His parents believe this latest case proves families of missing kids should never give up hope. "It really gives you a big boost because it vindicates everything that we've been saying," said Craig Akers, Hornbeck's stepfather. "That you shouldn't give up hope, that it's possible those kids are out there."
Like Jaycee Dugard, Shawn Hornbeck was also 11-years-old when he was kidnapped. His parents searched, and hoped and prayed for his safe return. Then four and a half years later, he and another boy were found in the home of Michael Devlin. Hornbeck's parents said the child's return is not the end of the ordeal. It's the beginning of the healing process. "The first year Shawn was home was almost as hard as the four and a half years of him being gone," said Hornbeck's mother, Pam Akers.
"When we were put in that situation our thought was, we're not going to ask a lot of questions," Craig said. "When the time comes we'll get our answers." But the Akers said they are living proof that families can be successfully reunited. They say Shawn is doing well, studying hard, and planning for college. "Shawn is a picture of a normal 18-year-old at this point. He still does a lot better than I do at times," Pam said. "It's just...they can become a family, they can become whole once again."

Girl Found After 18 Years

Girl Found After 18 Years

As Jaycee Lee Dugard is found after 18 years, here are other 'captives who came back from the dead' The miracle return of Jaycee Lee Dugard is not the first time a child has reappeared long after they were abducted. Despite the fact almost everyone concerned, even their closest family members, finally accept that a child has died, a rare few are rediscovered years later. Up to 24 years after they were first reported missing, these high-profile disappearances returned to society.
ELIZABETH SMART was found by police in Utah in 2003 a few miles away from the Salt Lake City home from which she had been kidnapped nine months earlier. In June 2002, Elizabeth, then 14, was abducted at knifepoint from her bedroom by a man prosecutors claimed was Brian Mitchell, a drifter and self-styled 'polygamist prophet' who had done oddjobs at her parents' home.
They said Mitchell had forced the girl to live as his wife during her time in captivity. He and his wife, Wanda Barzee, are still in custody but have never been tried because they were ruled mentally incompetent. 'Statistically, everyone said she was dead,' said Elizabeth's father, Ed. 'The not knowing was so horrible.' Elizabeth is now a 21-year-old university student studying music.

Big Brother 11 HOH Winner

Big Brother 11 HOH Winner
Week 8 in the Big Brother house, this week’s HOH winner is….drumroll please….KEVIN! Kevin, the mild mannered, colorful token gay of the house (whom I LOVE by the way) is the new HOH of the Big Brother house. Kevin’s HOH status will most likely flip the house being as he and Natalie have formed a Final 2 pact, and have vowed to evict Jeff (the former HOH) if they got power. Looks like they got their wish. Now will they break their promise to Jeff and put him up this week?
Really, this would be the best move on their part, to evict Jeff, because he is absolutely their strongest competition. By far. Jordan and Michelle are both weak players compared to him. As scary as it is, I am starting to think that Natalie just might win this! Funny thing is, as much as I can’t stand Natalie, I am in a Big Brother “pool” and was drawn her name. So if she wins – I win! I am still surprised Gnat has made it as far as she has in the game. They should have evicted her long ago. She is very good at stirring things up and not getting her hands dirty!
And how about Lydia going into the Jury House with Jessie? Wasn’t that a joke? After she was evicted he talked mad shiz about how she was going to lay into him as soon as she saw him, but that is hardly what happened. She put a little show on for the camera but she was obvious THRILLED to have a week alone with her manboy. Hell, she is probably on her back as we speak!

Danyl Johnson X Factor

Danyl Johnson X Factor
'X Factor' Star Danyl Johnson Thought His Music Dream 'Had Gone Past' Contestant tells 'Today' show his students encouraged him to try out. Danyl Johnson being dubbed the next Susan Boyle makes about as much sense as calling Heidi Montag the "a modern-day Michael Jackson." Boyle was a Scottish spinster with a love for show tunes when she decided to audition for "Britain's Got Talent." Johnson is a 27-year-old who prefers cargo shorts to house dresses and classic rock to "Les Misérables." But the two singers do have two things in common: instant fame and a dream of becoming a professional recording artist.
On Thursday (August 27), days after Johnson's viral-video-generating cover of the Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends" on the British talent show "The X Factor," Johnson spoke with the "Today" show about his ambitions. "My dream is to get an album out there, write songs, really enjoy this," he said via satellite during the interview. "That's what I wanted for so long. I've been singing for about 10 years now, and I didn't have that much interest before, and now loads of interest has come in. It's just really amazing. I'm having a really good time. It's so humbling."
Johnson had previously been in boy bands, auditioned for "X Factor" and performed on television with a rock band. But the world had never taken notice, leading "Today" host Ann Curry to wonder where Johnson had been hiding his talent. The singer from Reading, England, said he had no intention of trying out for the show, but his students encouraged him to give it a go and keep pursuing a singing career. "I thought that dream had gone past. And the kids have been so supportive, and they said I should go in for the competition, he explained.

Hurricane Danny

Hurricane Danny
Danny was gathering strength on Thursday as it nosed towards Cape Cod on the north-eastern coast and possibly Canada, forecasters said, urging locals to stay on their guard. The Miami-based National Hurricane Centre said the storm had top winds of 60 mph and could become a hurricane by Saturday. It could potentially make landfall on Cape Cod, the Massachusetts peninsula that houses the Kennedy family compound where Senator Edward Kennedy died this week.
But that path could change, forecasters said.
Located 370 miles east-northeast of Nassau on the Bahamas, and 575 miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina, the storm was expected to gather speed and veer to the north on Friday. “Slow strengthening is forecast during the next couple of days,” the NHC said. Danny previously was used to name a July 1997 hurricane that brought record rain fall for Alabama, at least 36.71 inches on Dauphin Island.

The U.S. National Hurricane Center said Tropical Storm Danny is likely to be formed into the season's second hurricane later in this week. The eye of Tropical Storm Danny was located approximately 445 miles east of Nassau and 775 miles south to southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina. Currently, the Tropical Storm Danny is at 45 miles per hour. It is not a Category 1 hurricane which requires wind speeds of at 75 miles per hour. Danny was expected to follow a northwesterly track through Thursday, staying north and east of the Bahamas. The storm was then expected to turn north on Friday before curving to the northeast over the weekend, the forecaster AccuWeather.com said, on a similar path of last weekend's first hurricane of the 2009 season, Bill.

Senator Kennedy

Senator Kennedy
"People know Senator Kennedy as an icon, but what they don't know is what a support he is to his colleagues. There were some rough spots in being the only Democratic woman senator while the nation was in the midst of a generational change. But Senator Kennedy was always encouraging. He was always on my side. He lifted my spirits," said Mikulski, currently recovering from ankle surgery at a rehab hospital in Baltimore. Kathleen Kennedy Townsend, the oldest of Sen. Robert F. Kennedy's 11 children, is among the best known of the family's Maryland members. She served as lieutenant governor from 1995 to 2003 under Gov. Parris N. Glendening and was the Democratic nominee for governor in 2002, losing to Republican Robert L. Ehrlich Jr.
The Kennedy family, in a public statement, described the senator as "the husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle we loved so deeply" and "the irreplaceable center of our family and joyous light in our lives." The Kennedys said that "the inspiration of his faith, optimism, and perseverance will live on in our hearts forever." Kennedy died only 15 days after his older sister, Eunice, who was married to R. Sargent Shriver Jr. of Maryland and made her home in Potomac. Their son, Mark, served two terms in the Maryland House of Delegates, from 1995 to 2003.
Rep. Chris Van Hollen, who defeated Shriver in the 2002 Democratic congressional primary, called Kennedy the Senate's "most gifted legislator" and a "tenacious fighter for working men and women who share the belief that America is the greatest country in the world. His passion and purpose were dedicated to righting wrongs and ensuring that our better days are ahead." Rep. John Sarbanes of Baltimore described Kennedy as "a real inspiration," not only to himself and others in politics, but to millions of ordinary people as well. The Democrat, who has been active in the House in the faltering effort to overhaul the health care system, said that he and others in Congress would now rededicate themselves on Kennedy's behalf.

Tropical Storm Danny

Tropical Storm Danny

Tropical Storm Danny, which formed in the Atlantic Ocean today near the Bahamas, is expected to gain strength as it approaches the United States, according to the Associated Press. Most storm models predict that the storm will avoid the Southeastern coast and head to the Northeast, similar to the path Hurricane Bill followed recently. Yet hurricane trackers stress that tropical storms often change their paths, so Florida natives and travelers to Florida (and other parts of the Southeast) should monitor the storms through the National Hurricane Center Web site.
Tropical Storm Danny could be off Delmarva Saturday That tropical disturbance in the Atlantic north of Puerto Rico has strengthened to tropical storm force and earned the name Danny. Forecasters say it will likely become a hurricane by this weekend, brush the Carolina coast and be off the Delmarva peninsula by Saturday morning. Here's AccuWeather.com's take on the new storm. The fourth named storm of the season was packing top sustained winds of 45 mph, with some slow strengthening expected in the next few days. At 73 mph it would become a Category 1 hurricane, the second of the season.

At 11 a.m. Wednesday the storm's center was reported to be 775 miles south southeast of Cape Hatteras, moving toward the west northwest at 18 mph. The National Hurricane Center's forecast track map takes the storm to a position just off the Outer Banks by early Saturday, where it is expected to be at hurricane strength. According to the St. Petersburg Times, Danny is currently moving to the west-northwest but is expected to move toward the north-northwest Friday. Winds are about 45 miles per hour today but could increase over the next few days.

Mary Jo Kopechne

Mary Jo Kopechne
Mary Jo Kopechne was a schoolteacher, secretary, and political campaign worker, who was killed one night forty years ago, in an automobile accident on Chappaquiddick Island at Martha's Vineyard. The driver, a prominent United States senator, claimed to have made several attempts to save her, but did not report the accident until the next morning, when the car and the body were found. The senator pleaded guilty to "leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury." He received a two month suspended sentence. The Kopechne family has never commented publicly on the incident.
The senator went on to a distinguished career in politics, but for a failed attempt at nomination to run for the Presidency. He died early this morning, after a long battle with cancer. The woman who was never able to live as full or as long a life as he, and whose family received little if any justice, can finally rest in peace.
May God have mercy on that senator. May God have mercy on us all.

Chappaquiddick

Chappaquiddick
The “Chappaquiddick incident” refers to circumstances surrounding the death of Mary Jo Kopechne, a former campaign worker for the assassinated U.S. Senator Robert F. Kennedy of New York. On July 18, 1969, Ted Kennedy attended a party on Chappaquiddick, a small island connected via ferry to the town of Edgartown on the adjoining larger island of Martha’s Vineyard.
The party was a reunion for a group of six women, including Kopechne, known as the “boiler-room girls”,who had served in his brother Robert’s 1968 presidential campaign. Also present were Joseph Gargan (Ted Kennedy’s cousin), Paul Markham (a school friend of Gargan’s who would become United States Attorney for Massachusetts under the patronage of the Kennedys), Charles Tretter (an attorney), Raymond La Rosa and John Crimmins (Ted Kennedy’s part-time driver). Kennedy was also competing in the Edgartown Yacht Club Regatta, a sailing competition which was taking place over several days.
Kopechne’s dead body was discovered inside an overturned car belonging to Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy of Massachusetts under water in a tidal channel on Chappaquiddick Island, Massachusetts. After the body was found, Kennedy gave a statement to police saying that on the previous night he had taken a wrong turn and accidentally driven his car off a bridge into the water. He pled guilty to a charge of leaving the scene of an accident after causing injury, and received a suspended sentence. The incident became a national scandal, and may have affected the Senator’s decision not to run for President in 1972.

Ted Kennedy quotes

Ted Kennedy quotes
Ted Kennedy became a Democratic Massachusetts senator in 1962 In his words, as in life, he was a politician unafraid to address issues in a direct and occasionally controversial manner. * "For all those whose cares have been our concern, the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives and the dream shall never die" - addressing the Democratic National Convention after pulling out of the presidential race, August 1980.
* "Frankly, I don't mind not being president. I just mind that someone else is" - at Washington Gridiron Club dinner, March 1986. * "Well, here I don't go again" - on not running for president in 1988. * "Ulster is becoming Britain's Vietnam" - on The Troubles in Northern Ireland, October 1971 * "My brother need not be idealised or enlarged in death beyond what he was in life, to be remembered as a good and decent man, who saw wrong and tried to right it, saw suffering and tried to heal it, saw war and tried to stop it" - eulogy for brother Robert Kennedy, June 1968.
* "I regard as indefensible the fact that I did not report the accident to the police immediately" - during a televised statement after he pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident in regards to the Chappaquiddick incident, July 1969 * "What we have in the United States is not so much a health-care system as a disease-care system" - on health care reform for which he campaigned throughout his life, 1994 * "With Barack Obama, we will turn the page on the old politics of misrepresentation and distortion. With Barack Obama we will close the book on the old politics of race against race, gender against gender, ethnic group against ethnic group, and straight against gay" - endorsing Barack Obama for president, January 2008.

High Line Standard Hotel

High Line Standard Hotel
Standard Hotel New York Has Become A Tourist Attraction: HOTEL bosses are forcing cheeky guests to cover up after their sexy antics became a tourist attraction. The plush Standard Hotel, in New York, is renowned for its huge floor-to-ceiling windows. Naughty … guest towels down But shameless visitors have been using the unique feature to give passers-by an eyeful.
Guests have been spotted romping, drying off, pleasuring themselves and even shooting PORN FILMS in full view of onlookers. The exhibitionists have even launched a Facebook page to brag about their sordid pastime. Now red-faced managers are demanding guests keep their curtains closed after a series of complaints from neighbours. A spokesman for the hotel said: “The hotel has always been sensitive to the concerns of its friends and neighbours. “We will make a concerted effort to remind guests of the transparency of the guest room windows.” Brit Peter Jennett, 49, said: “It would be shocking in London but New York is all about showing off.
There’s something altogether unsavory about including the phrases “Meatpacking District” and “exhibitionism” in the same sentence, but that’s life in the big city. In other words, that’s how they do things in New York - the Big Apple, the land of movie stars, potholes and scores of debt consolidation and debt management customers. Certain people love to do their little turn on that giant catwalk. The Standard Hotel in New York has drawn some controversy for the way some of their guests leave nothing to the imagination of pedestrians walking by. According to the New York Daily News, the windows are floor-to-ceiling and they face the newly opened High Line Park, where foot traffic is high. Certain guests put on shows for passers-by, clothing optional and curtains open wide.
