Indian fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander is slated to be sentenced in Los Angeles Superior Court on Monday for sexually assaulting aspiring models. Prosecutors are pushing for the 35-year-old to face the maximum possible sentence; three terms of 53 years and six months to life.
Alexander was convicted last November of 14 counts including forcible rape with victims ranging in age from 14 to 21. According to court documents the fashion designer often found women online, enticed them with promises of a high fashion career along with photo shoots and other modeling work. However his promises of entrance into the glamorous world of high fashion were empty ones and he'd end up fondling or raping them at his Beverly Hills apartment.
Police began investigating the designer in 2007 after a woman reported she had been sexually molested by Alexander at his apartment. At one point Alexander was highly regarded in the fashion industry and was featured on "America's Next Top Model." His professional successes garnered him big name celebrity clients such as hotel heiress Paris Hilton and singer Mary J. Blige.
