Leadville 100

Today is time for the Leadville 100 Mountain Race! Many have already started their day early to position themselves for the race. It is expected a participation of around 1000 mountain bikers! The goal for the competitors is to finish the circuit in less than 9 hours to receive the “big buckle”, but this is not easy task! Dave Wiens is as the big favorite to beat the time of Lance Armstrong, he has won this competition 6 times already!
While some endurance racers will busy racing the Leadville 100 in Colorado and the Fools' Gold in Georgia on Saturday, August 15, others will be racing all day in Wyoming. The battle at Pierre's Hole will be contested on Saturday over 50- or 100-mile distances in the shadows of the Tetons.Racers are expected from Wisconsin, Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
The course, a 25-mile loop, offers a challenging 4,000 feet of climbing per lap and 60% singletrack. It's based at the Grand Targhee Resort in Alta, Wyoming. The course design provides a sample of everything from an 800-foot road climb to a 1,700foot singletrack descent into Teton Canyon, only to have to climb back out.
