Leeward Islands

The first tropical storm of the season has developed in the Atlantic Ocean, near the Leeward Islands in the Caribbean. The Cape Verde season is under way as a series of waves have been spinning off the African coast. Ana will continue on its westerly course for the next few days gradually getting stronger.

No other tropical development is noticed in the region. Another larger wave behind Ana is likely going to become a depression, and eventually turn unto tropical storm Bill. Ana is moving towards the west, nearly 16 MPH. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 MPH. This storm should continue to develop over the next 48 hours.

The National Hurricane Center has named the first tropical storm of the season. According to the NHC 5 a.m. advisory, TS Ana is moving west near 16 miles per hour and is expected to approach the Leeward Islands by Monday.
