Snl Letterman

Snl Letterman
Add "Saturday Night Live" to the shows making sport of David Letterman's difficulties. But in the hands of "SNL," Dave got off pretty easy. On Thursday, the "Late Show" host had acknowledged having sex with some of the women who worked for him, and told his viewers he was the victim of a blackmail attempt. On "SNL," "Weekend Update" anchor Seth Meyers dubbed the extortion attempt by a CBS News producer "a stupid human trick." Meyers added that the would-be blackmailer was threatening to reveal embarrassing details of Letterman's personal life, then gave a joking example: "After sex, he would always say, 'Stay tuned for Craig Ferguson.'"
Letterman's fellow TV hosts Jay Leno and Jimmy Fallon are among comics who already had zinged him on their shows. Leno kicked off his monologue Friday by declaring, "If you came here tonight for sex with a talk show host, you've got the wrong studio." He continued, "The guy that was trying to blackmail Letterman was a producer for the show '48 Hours.' It could have been worse: At least he wasn't producer of 'To Catch a Predator.'" Also on NBC, "Late Night" host Jimmy Fallon had his own wisecrack: "There's a new book out called 'Why Women Have Sex' that says there are 237 reasons why women have sex. And folks, Letterman knows the top 10."
ABC's Jimmy Kimmel spared Letterman in his Friday monologue. So did Conan O'Brien on NBC's "Tonight Show." He also dodged the issue when guest Drew Carey brought it up. "I would hate to be on opposite Letterman tonight with all that sex stuff going on," Carey said. "That's got to be tough." "No comment," O'Brien responded quickly. Still to be heard from: Jon Stewart on "The Daily Show" and Stephen Colbert on "The Colbert Report." Both Comedy Central shows are dark on Fridays, but will be back with fresh episodes Monday. So will CBS' Craig Ferguson, host of "The Late Late Show," whose Friday edition had been taped earlier in the week. On Monday, the comically outspoken Ferguson will be able to add his zingers. But there's a potentially delicate situation: Letterman's Worldwide Pants produces his show. That makes Letterman his boss.

Blue Duck Tavern

Blue Duck Tavern
The Obama celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary by having a romantic dinner at Blue Duck Tavern on Saturday night. It was the couple’s first wedding anniversary at the White House. While they spent the day indoors, the first couple celebrated the anniversary together at a night out on the west side of the Washington. The presidential accolade arrived at the Blue Duck Tavern restaurant at 7.40 p.m. The first lady was wearing a knee length black dress with a black clutch in her hands while Mr. President sported his signature style that is a black suit with no tie.
The couple’s choice for Blue Duck Tavern is quite understandable provided the fact that Michelle is ‘promoting fresh food’. Blue Duck Tavern which boasts of its food as ‘wholesome American fare prepared through simple, time-honored cooking methods such as roasting, braising, preserving and smoking’ is comparable to Blue Hill – the Greenwich Village Restaurant where Obama had supper during their New York night out. The couple left the restaurant at 9.14 p.m.
While President Obama is busy resolving national issues, he’s proving time and again that he’s a very attentive husband. Obama often take out time for each other. Their most recent ‘couple time’ was a dinner during the visit to Czech Republic and a New York night out. Commenting about their romantic relationship, Michelle Obama once told People’s magazine, ‘Our romantic [time] is almost every Saturday night or Friday night, if he’s home. We spend the day with the girls doing girls’ stuff and that’s a family. Then we have date night, and the girls like it.’ The couple got married on October 3, 1992 in Chicago. Mr. Obama proposed Michelle over a desert.

New York state unemployment NYS unemployment NYS dept of labor. Governor Paterson announced today that New York State will receive approximately $4.5 million in federal grant funds for 2009 under the national Reemployment and Eligibility Assessment (REA) initiative of the US Department of Labor. The REA initiative is designed to help people receiving unemployment insurance get back to work faster by providing them with individualized job search and training services. The money comes from federal funds that support the administration of unemployment insurance. “Because of the economic turmoil New York has faced during the past 18 months, I have made it a priority that we do everything within our power to protect the most vulnerable New Yorkers, including the unemployed.

REA grant funds support additional One-Stop Career Center staff who work one-on-one with individuals receiving unemployment insurance. Staff will help workers determine what job hunting and training services they need, and then develop a job search plan customized to each person’s needs. Additionally, information on the local labor market is used to help focus the individual’s job search. Staff will continue to follow-up with each worker throughout the job search process, until the worker gets a job or exhausts his or her unemployment benefits.

Early results from the REA initiative are promising. For 2008, participants found jobs approximately two weeks faster than those in a control group. Putting New Yorkers back to work more quickly not only benefits participants, but also saves the State money. In 2009, New York could save approximately $10.4 million per year in payments from its Unemployment Insurance Trust fund (based on the current average weekly unemployment insurance benefit rate of almost $316) if program participants find a job one week faster than those who do not participate.
