Cairo, President Hosni Mubarak of Egypt temporarily, left the day after the transfer of certain powers Vice-President Omar Suleiman, to try to quell the demonstrations this week, CBS News has confirmed.

The ruling left the capital notched the Red Sea resort town of Sharm el-Sheikh. He is not expected to continue indefinitely, but returned to Cairo. Reports that he fled the country for safe haven elsewhere in the Arab world - in Europe or medical - is inaccurate, sources told CBS News.

Mubarak reportedly left during or immediately after his address to the nation last night, which was taped in advance. Anger flared in the streets of Egypt after his speech.

Mubarak is widely expected to announce his resignation Thursday. Instead, he said that the additional powers not delegated to the Vice-President Omar Suleiman, and remains president until elections in September. Since Mubarak's speech was broadcast, the premature victory celebrations among the demonstrators in downtown Tahrir Square turned to confusion, despair and anger.

Mubarak concessions, like a half measure - at best - the protesters, who are nothing less than a complete removal from power. Suleiman is also installing a nuisance to many. Suleiman, seen in Egypt and the foreign establishment number, and a close associate of Mubarak is basically no different.
