the royal wedding guest list
The British are bickering like the politics of the royal wedding list. Some nose is broken, because previous work premiers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown were not invited, but the former Conservative PM John Major and Margaret Thatcher (Thatcher fell because of bad health).
Even the conservative-leaning papers were steamed. In particular, if the original guest list call the representatives of Libya, Syria, Bahrain and Malawi, where local authorities are busy targeting violent protests recently noted.
Human rights activists also criticized the invitation extended to Swaziland, Zimbabwe and Saudi Arabia.
The Bahraini invitation finally denied, and the conservative government of Prime Minister David Cameron on Thursday withdrew an invitation to Syria, where some 450 people were killed during the insurgency in recent months against the authoritarian regime of Bashar Assad.
As for Blair and Brown, palace officials said there was no snub, but the question, protocol: Brown and Blair does not Knights of the Garter, but Thatcher and Major. Well, that explains it.
