College Football Rankings Week 5
College Football Rankings Week 5: It’s not a good year to be in the Top 5 as at least one top 5 ranked college football team has lost each of the first four weeks. This past weeekend was no different, fourth-ranked Mississippi caught by surprise, beaten 16-10 by South Carolina on Thursday night. Ole Miss drops in the college football rankings Week 5 to No. 21 in the AP Poll and No. 18 in the USA Today Coaches poll. The College Football Odds experts at Bookmaker.com have Ole Miss Rebels –9.5 point favorites on the road against the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Also losing on Upset Saturday was No. 5 Penn State at home 21-1 to unranked Iowa for the 7th time in 8 years. A.J. Edds intercepted Daryll Clark with less than four minutes to go and Iowa worked the clock and added a field goal with seconds left. The turning point was when Adrian Clayborn a defensive end got the momentum going for Iowa after he blocked a punt and returned it 53 yards for a touchdown to start the fourth quarter. The No. 6 California Golden Bears got spanked by the Oregon Ducks on Saturday 42-3. Cal drops in the college football rankings to No. 24 AP and No. 19 Coaches Polls and has its work cut out going home to host he No. 7 USC Trogans. The College Football Odds experts at Bookmaker.com have USC Trojans –6.5 point favorites on the road against the California Golden Bears. The final top 10 upset had No. 9 Miami Hurricanes fall 31-7 to the No. 11 Virginia Tech Hokies in Blacksburg VA. The Hurricanes drop in the college football rankings to No. 17 AP and No. 21 Coaches Poll. Miami faces another tough test as they head home to host No. 8 Oklahoma Sooners. The College Football Odds experts at Bookmaker.com have Oklahoma Sooners –6.5 point favorites on the road against the Miami Hurricanes.
