vince young

vince young

Bills general manager Buddy Nix had no trouble assessing the attributes of Vince Young after agreeing to a one-year contract with free agent quarterback Friday.

Strong arm. High mobility. And then there's his winning record as an NFL starter.

When it comes to configuring Young's role in the Bills, Nix does not guarantee that, except to say that the starting job is already taken by Ryan Fitzpatrick to so young to compete for a backup job.

"We are always looking to try to improve our team," Nix said. "It is a competition for the backup quarterback job, and not the starter .... He knows it. That's the way it is."

That does not devalue Bills' hopes for Young, who compete with the return of Tyler Thigpen backup.

"The man's already two Pro Bowls. He is 31-19 as a starter in this league," said Nix. "We think he can do it again."

Citing a source League, ESPN.com reported the contract is worth $ 2,000,000 $ 1,000,000 available in more game-time bonuses.

The Washington Redskins was a big supporter of Michael Vick on Monday. Donovan McNabb they signed that five-year extension worth $ 78,000,000, which raised eyebrows throughout the country - and especially the Eagles' locker room. The Redskins decided on the basis of hope rather than production. Just two weeks after coach Mike Shanahan clumsy McNabb tore a game that has not yet been decided, the organization has a long-term commitment on behalf of stability.

But his former team, the quarterback McNabb is a mercenary who could be the best in the league right now. And on the basis of performance records 59-28 beat down the Redskins at FedEx Field, Vick asks for more money than McNabb. It is difficult to feel sorry for a man who allegedly received $ 40 million in guaranteed money (for a total of more ridiculous it seems every time he writes), but looked old and slow compared to McNabb Vick. The Eagles quarterback was 20-for-28 333 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. A good measure, ran eight times in the 80 yards and two touchdowns on. He is the first player in league history to all of these things in the game.

Michael Vick press conference

Michael Vick press conference
Seven random thoughts on No.7 before the Michael Vick press conference starts, which I’ll be monitoring . . .
1.) Does this mean the United Football League is going to fold — and what to do now with all of those No. 7 Florida Tuskers jerseys? (Did anybody really believe that ever was going to happen? Suckers.)
2.) Here’s an idea: Sell the jerseys to Arthur Blank! The Falcons’ owner is trying to make up for some of the cash he lost after the Vick-fueled franchise collapse. But how happy is he today? He now knows he’ll have at least one sellout this season (Dec. 6 vs. Eagles), and if he’s smart he’ll break out all of those Falcons’ No. 7 jerseys that he has in storage and sell them outside the Georgia Dome game week. What do you suppose complete MV7 set of Falcon-Leavenworth-Tusker-Eagle jerseys would go for?
4.) It’s a testament to how well great NFL franchises can keep a secret that word of Philadelphia’s interest in Vick never leaked out, especially in the days of message boards, blogs, blind reader commenting and every third cousin of the equipment manager Twittering. And how must ESPN’s Chris Mortensen, a former AJC comrade, feel? He actually had the Eagles listed as a possible destination for Vick early in the week but removed them after speaking to Reid.
