Prince Edward Island (PEI) Residents can now recycle their old electronics with the launch of the Atlantic Canada Management Electronics (ACES) ACES program province.The program, which began on July 1, 2010, residents of Prince Edward Island is the free fall of six unwanted electronic waste management Island Corporation (IWMC) approved locations throughout the island. "With the launch of the program in Prince Edward Island, ACES members demonstrate their commitment to responsible recycling practices of electronic products," said CEO of ACES, David Bois de la Casa de hardware. This recycling program run by the industry is financed by an environmental handling fee (EHF) charged with the sale of new electronic products, which fall under provincial law. ACES The fees collected will only be used for the actual costs associated with the collection, transport, management and recycling of covered electronic items.The ACES program was created by the electronics industry and retail with the recycling of electronic products which are regulated by the government to manage and banned from disposal in landfills.On July 1, 2010, the PEI government regulated all electronic products that are currently part of the ACES program.
"The Government of Prince Edward Island is pleased to work with industry to a recycling program for electronic environmental problem of electronic waste will become part of the solid waste stream will be offering," said Environment , Energy and Forestry Minister Richard Brown. "This will help build awareness that we all share the responsibility to protect the environment."
