Sara Jane Moore and Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme attempted to assassinate U.S. President Gerald Ford in 1975. However, the similarity between them ends here as Moore was released from prison on parole after serving 32 years of her life sentence in 2007 while "Squeaky" Fromme is currently serving a life sentence in prison.
Sara Jane is again in headlines as she appeared in NBC’s Today and said that she "made a serious error". She said "I think that I was misled, that I was mistaken. I think I made a serious error," she told Lauer. "I had to learn later that everyone else didn’t feel that way." Moore pleaded guilty to attempted assassination and was sentenced to life in prison before being released in 2007.
Sara Jane Moore attempted to assassinate U.S. President Gerald Ford on September 22, 1975 outside the St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco, just seventeen days after Lynette "Squeaky" Fromme had also tried to kill the president. Moore was a bookkeeper for P.I.N. and an FBI informant when she attempted to assassinate Ford.
