Jay Leno wrapped up his last show on the May 29 Tonight Show last night - cracking jokes after a long standing ovation at the show’s open, interviewing Conan O’Brien, and listening as James Taylor performed. It was Jay Leno’s finale Tonight Show closing (see the video above) that was the sweetest moment of the night - thanking the crew, writers, Kevin Eubanks and wife Mavis… before talking about the legacy of his 17-year run on the Tonight Show.
Leno introduced the 68 kids who have been born to Tonight Show staffers during the 17 year gig, saying, “That’s what I’d like my legacy to be. When these kids grow up and they go, ‘Hey, mom and dad, where did you guys meet?’, they’re going to say they met on the stage of the Tonight Show.”
Jay Leno’s last show was wrapped up with support of incoming Tonight Show host Conan O’Brien: “Thank you everybody, thank you for watching. Please give Conan as much support as you’ve given me throughout the years. Good night, we’ll see you in September.”
