Hookers for Jesus

Annie Lobért, who founded Hookers for Jesus, and musician Oz Fox of the Christian band Stryper said their "I do's" at the Church of South Las Vegas in front of an applauding crowd and an audience on the Internet. The wedding had been widely touted on several Christian Web sites. Lobért, 41, walked up to the stage in a white strapless gown, gloves and veil. Earlier this week, she wrote on her MySpace blog: "I am getting married. It's about time."
She had worked as a prostitute for 11 years, making as much as $500 an hour. She said she hit rock bottom when she overdosed on cocaine and everything went black, according to an ABC interview posted on her Web site. She asked Jesus to help her and became what many jokingly call a "porn-again Christian." Lobért says her mission now is to save the souls of women who sell their bodies. She often spends time at night on Las Vegas streets handing out Bibles to prostitutes and seeking to convince them there is a better way to make a living.
The Hookers for Jesus Web site describes the organization as "an international, faith-based organization that addresses the realities of human sex trafficking, sexual violence and exploitation linked to pornography and the sex industry." Before he administered the vows, Pastor Benny Perez said Lobért was a shining example of Christ's love for everyone. Fox, 47, is a longtime member of Stryper, which stands for Salvation Through Redemption, Yielding Peace, Encouragement and Righteousness. The band's albums include "Reborn: and "In God We Trust."

Carradine death

More information suggesting David Carradine's death was not a suicide. CNN is citing police sources who say police and rescue workers in Thailand told them "the actor's neck and genitals were found bound with rope." Meanwhile, Caradine's manager is suggesting foul play. The CNN report says "a yellow nylon rope was tied around the actor's neck and a black rope was around his genitals."
Chuck Binder, Carradine's manager, told CNN "I do not want to get in the middle of this whole investigation, but this guy said to me for sure there was foul play." The police have not alluded to anything other than an accident, at least not publicly. Tiffany Smith, a spokeswoman for Carradine's agents Binder and Associates, said she did not believe that he would intentionally kill himself.
Thai police officers investigating the death of David Carradine, the American actor who made his name in the "Kung Fu" television series in the 1970s, say he most likely died of asphyxiation, possibly when an autoerotic sex game went wrong. Carradine, 72, was found naked in a closet in an upscale Bangkok hotel on Thursday with cords around his neck and his genitals.

Donut Day

In honor of National Donut Day, both Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreme are giving away one free donut. Dunkin Donuts requires a purchase of a drink to get your free donut. There are lots of locations in the Dallas area. In honor of National Doughnut Day - oops, we mean National Donut Day - the chain said that participating stores tomorrow "will give every customer a free donut of their choice, with the purchase of any beverage, limit one per customer."
Dunkin' also plans to announce the winner of its "Create Dunkin's Next Donut" contest. One entry that caused much hubbub at a contest Web page was the sm'OREO. Some ingredients? Marshmallow filling, OREO Cookie Pieces, Graham Cracker Crunch, and chocolate frosting.
For some, Christmas is the most special of days. For others, birthdays take the cake. But for a rare breed, no holiday is more worthy of veneration than tomorrow's National Doughnut Day, which Dunkin' Donut plans to celebrate with a doughnut deal. When it comes to adulating the sinker, few can match Dunkin', the Canton-based chain of coffee-and-baked-goods stores.
