The feeling of reality so so artfully evoked that people have started looking up for news relating to the death of Micah Sloat. Weekend has always been known to be one of those times when the reports of celebrity death hoax have known to rule the roost. So, when Sloat’s name cropped up this weekend in the list, it just helped prove just how brilliant his performance has been on screen. “Paranormal Activity” has been released at few selected outlets (12) across US and has been receiving an exceptionally good response from all quarters. It is referred to as being the next “Blair Witch Project” in matters of success and cult worship. It has all the requirements that need to make it in to a worthy successor of the cult horror film of “Blair Witch Project”.
The movie focuses on the life of a young couple, played by Katie Featherston and Micah Sloat, who are haunted by a strange supernatural presence in the house. In order to capture the cause of the uneasiness, the duo set up cameras all over their house. What they come across does not help put them at ease at all.

The mockumentary achieved so much authenticity in levels of its cinematic treatment that it managed to convince the viewers that the lead pair of actors had seriously met with a tragic and fatal end by the time the movie got over.

Russian-born singer/songwriter Regina Spektor has planned a North American outing this fall behind her summertime release, "Far." The 18-city club and theater trek begins in the East with a performance tonight (10/7) in Atlanta and an Oct. 12 show in Northampton, MA, before moving to the West Coast and working its way back through the Midwest. One Canadian date--Nov. 2 in Vancouver--also made the itinerary, which winds down with a Nov. 19 concert in Louisville, KY. Details are included below. Spektor will head across the pond for a European excursion that will cap off 2009. Information about international performances is posted at the performer's website.
"Far," Spektor's fifth studio effort, rolled out in June and debuted at No. 3 on The Billboard 200. The Sire Records release follows 2006's "Begin to Hope," which Rolling Stone magazine deemed one of the best albums of the year. Last Friday (10/2), Spektor released a live six-song EP via iTunes, aptly titled "iTunes Live from SoHo." The short collection features five tracks from the recently released "Far" and one single'--"Apres Moi"--from her 2006 album.

The two fastest women who entered for the 2009 Chicago Marathon, to be held on 11 October, Kazakhstan-born Irina Mikitenko and Athens Olympic bronze medalist and 2006 Chicago champion Deena Kastor of the USA are both recovering from losses. Kastor from a broken foot at the Beijing Olympic Games and Mikitenko from the death of her father earlier this year. Mikitenko has already announced that she would leave no stones unturned in her bid to win the Chicago Marathon as a tribute to her father. Mikitenko, 37, is the defending World Marathon Majors champion, having won the 2007-2008 series and sits atop the current (2008-2009) leader board, a win in Chicago will cement her claim for the title once again.
The World Marathon Majors is a series of five of the most prestigious races held around the world that includes - Boston, London, Berlin, Chicago and New York City Marathons. Last minute entrant Ethiopia's Berhane Adere, the 2006/2007 Chicago women's champion, also has hopes to come back from below par performances in the past two years and re-establish herself as one of the top female marathoners. With defending champion Lidia Grigoryeva of Russia also in fray, the women's race is set to be a battle of the champions.
The organisers are hoping for a new course record in the men's race with Beijing Olympic champion Samuel Wanjiru, Morocco's Abderrahim Goumri and Kenya's Vincent Kipruto all claiming that they are ready to have a go at Haile Gebrselassie's world record mark of 2:03:59. All the three boast of a personal best in the vicinity of 2:05.00s Pre-race forecast is for typical October day in Chicago with temperatures hovering around 4 to 9 degree centigrade, the conditions are ideal for the champions to go for the world record.
