Sensational case of Amanda Knox and Meredith KERCHER murder back in the headlines again. This time, Italy Supreme Court will decide, once and for all, to close the case, for better or send it back to the lower court to try again.
On Monday, the court heard testimony of the top Italian Italian prosecutors want to put them back to prison in his native Seattle. In 2009, Knox and former boyfriend Raffaele Sollecito were sentenced to 26 and 25 years in prison and a stabbing KERCHER, Knox's British roommate in 2007, leaving him to die drowning in his own blood. Two years later, the duo also sensationally acquitted of the Court of Appeal to the release. Rudy Guede, a vagabond in the Ivory Coast, was convicted in a separate fast-track trial and was sentenced to 30 years in prison. The sentence was confirmed by the Italian Supreme Court in 2011, but reduced the sentence to 16 years.
Hearing on Monday marked the final stage of the three-tier judicial system in Italy, Knox and Sollecito. If the judgment is not satisfied, the final decision of the High Court can not be appealed again, and Knox guarantees freedom. If the high court rules that the matter should be re-that dates back only to the stage of the appeal, is not normal. In fact, it would return to the 2009 decision that Knox and Sollecito were originally convicted.
In Italy, all criminal cases, which are automatically accepted for filing an appeal after the lower court (though not all prosecutors or attorneys decided to appeal.) More than 50 percent of all appeal cases changed on appeal, as in the case of Knox . Much less has been modified once again to the Supreme Court, but it is not uncommon for the court to order a new trial or sentence, or a subtle change in some way.
