Brazil Map

Brazil Map has been produced by the Network Youth Program, whose aim is to promote social participation amongst young people from low income families through the use of new communication technologies. So far Wikimapa is available in five communities in Rio de Janeiro, Complexo do Alemmo, Complexo da Mare, City of God, and Santa Marta-Pavao Pavaozinho.
Using Wikimapa young people can add and find information about different points of interest, e.g. schools, hospitals, churches, clubs, bars, etc. Users can add comments and photographs about locations and add comments to locations already mapped. Gruelling efforts to craft a pact on climate change enter a crucial phase on Monday when the 192-nation UN forum takes its first look at a draft text for negotiations.
Little more than six months are left before the "Bali Road Map", launched in Indonesia in 2006, reaches its supposed destination at a Copenhagen summit: an accord that will transform global warming from a monster into a manageable problem. On the table is a small mountain of paper whose notable feature is curly brackets, denoting discord among scores of submissions.

Airbus A330

Airbus A330-200 carrying over 200 passengers lost radar contact off the coast of Brazil late last night. The flight was apparently reporting electrical problems experienced during turbulence on its route between Rio de Janeiro and Charles de Gaulle Paris. Hope is still standing for some reemergence of the aircraft, although it has been several hours since contact was lost. In addition, the Brazilian Air Force has been deployed to the last sight of contact in order to search for any sings of the aircraft.
The last known contact with the plane was at 1:33 a.m. GMT (8:33 p.m. Sunday night ET), the Brazilian Air Force spokesman said. Air France said it could not confirm reports of a short circuit on board the aircraft. The airline said it "shared the emotion and the concern of the families concerned" adding that friends and relatives waiting at the airport would be taken to a special area. A crisis center is being set up at Charles de Gaulle where the plane had been due to land at 11.15 a.m. local time.
Agence France-Presse quoted France's Environment Minister Jean Louis Borloo saying that it was extremely unlikely the plane had been hijacked. "We are very worried," an aviation official told AFP. "The plane disappeared from the screens several hours ago. It could be a transponder problem, but this kind of fault is very rare and the plane did not land when expected."

Susan Boyle Hospitalized

Susan Boyle Hospitalized After Emotional Breakdown Hours after her shocking defeat on Britain’s Got Talent, Susan Boyle was admitted to a private clinic in London Sunday for exhaustion. "Police were called to doctors assessing a woman under the Mental Health Act. The woman was taken voluntarily by ambulance to a clinic," a Boyle spokesperson said in a statement. "At the request of doctors, police accompanied the ambulance."
On Monday, judge Piers Morgan -- who spoke to Boyle, 48, shortly before her hospitalization -- said she is "fine" and has just "gone in for some rest." "She needs to get away from everyone – get away from the show, from the media, the public, and just have a bit of down time to herself," he said on U.K.'s GMTV morning show Monday.
The Scottish signing sensation won over millions with her stirring rendition of "I Dreamed A Dream" from the musical Les Miserables during her audition. She performed the same song on Saturday's finale, but was beat by dance troupe Diversity. (Some reports said Boyle had been angry and screamed "I hate this show" after losing; winners said she had been "gracious" and nice.")Said Morgan: "She had too long to wait between the audition show and the final, and the pressure just builds and builds and builds.
