Johnny Benson

Johnny Benson is in a Grand Rapids, Michigan hospital in serious condition after a horrific crash at Berlin Raceway Saturday night, but hospital staff say he’s “expected to be fine.” In a statement released to a Grand Rapids TV station, a spokesperson for Spectrum Hospital said that Johnny Benson is “expected to be fine.”
At ISMA the Supermodifieds Race in Marne Michigan Saturday night, Benson’s car made contact with the wheel of another car driven by Larry Lehnert and crashed, bursting into flames. Benson was immediately pulled from the wreckage and the fire was extinguished by safety crews. Benson was then rushed ti hospital with serious but non life threatening injuries. Reigning NASCAR truck champion Johnny Benson is in serious but stable condition after a fiery crash during a SuperModified race.
The driver was starting his second lap when he collided with another car on Saturday night at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Michigan. His car slammed into the wall and erupted into flames. Benson reportedly had multiple injuries, including burns and broken ribs. The 45-year-old driver lost his full-time ride last Monday when Red Horse Racing folded his Camping World Truck Series team because it couldn't find sponsorship.
