Tillakaratne Dilshan departed after scoring a brilliant century that has put Sri Lanka on top. Dale Steyn drew the first blood for South Africa by sending back Sanath Jayasuriya early, after the Proteans won the toss and elected to bowl in the inaugural one-dayer of the Champions Trophy on Tuesday. Despite losing Jayasuriya early, Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara quickly got into the groove and build the innings to put Sri Lanka in the driver's seat. The duo played fine shots all around the park and maintained a healthy run-rate.

Dilshan, who was more dominant of the two, reached his century in almost no time. But just after he completed his 3rd ODI ton, South Africa managed to get a breakthrough in teh very next ball by sending back Kumar Sangakkara. Sangakkara departed for a well-made 54 off 74 balls. After just two overs, Dale Steyn took the prized-wicket of the centurion Dilshan, who for 92-ball 106, studded with 16 fours and a six.

The Proteas are playing two spinners - Roelof van der Merwe and Johan Botha. The Sri Lankans also have a well-balanced bowling attack, with the arrival of seam-bowling allrounder Angelo Mathews. SA would look to exploit home conditions and start on a winning note as they take on the Lankans.
