Google Trends shows that many people are searching for information about the U.S. Department of Energy’s program that offers government rebates to people who turn in their old energy-guzzling appliance for a new Energy Star-qualified one. In July, U.S. Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu announced that nearly $300 million in federal funding was available for the program.
