punxsutawney phil 2011

punxsutawney phil 2011

The news Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania, this morning to hear exactly what he wanted: Spring will start this year, thanks to the good old Phil's prediction of the winter, as it did for 125 years (the longest ever live groundhog?).

Hooray, I thought I was happy with my portrayal of exile in the sleeping bag coat the recesses of my closet. And National Geographic, that bastion of the bizarre historical trivia, all broken down.

125 years, the country looked at Punxsutawney Phil, the groundhog hole to creep and mission Feb. 2. When he sees his shadow, boom, there are still six weeks of winter. If you do not mean that just over two weeks to beat (and the storms to wallop the country this year, which is happy news).

So what if the National Climatic Data Center, says Phil is correct only about 40 per cent of the time? The country still believes. The groundhog was.
