In an unprecedented move, tribes of Jordan have been a member of the public criticism of the royal family.

Although the turmoil in the Middle East-inspired protests in Jordan, the protesters have been careful to attack the royal family. Any criticism of the royal family could lead to a three-year prison sentence.

However, there are 36 strains of a public statement accusing Queen Rania, King Abdullah II, his wife: "corruption." The tribes constitute about 40 percent of the population, and significant political influence.

"We urge the king to return to their land and farms to the Yassin family (the queen). The land belongs to the Jordanian people," said 36 tribal leaders in a joint statement this week, Agence France-Presse reports.

Queen Rania, a Palestinian born in an international celebrity and is often known for its commitment to the philanthropic work of women in education.
